Gabor Lorant Architects Inc. (GLA) is a medium sized, design-oriented firm that provides its clients architectural and planning services of the highest caliber. GLA’s balanced approach to design combines creativity and technical competence to achieve architecture that is functionally efficient, aesthetically pleasing, energy-conscious, constructed on time and within budget. GLA offers a full range of architectural services from programming, feasibility studies and planning at the onset of a project, on through the procurement of furniture and equipment, and post construction analysis. Under the design leadership of Jan Lorant (AIA/LEED AP) the firm has implemented a rich variety of buildings for both public and private clients.

Jan took the reigns of the firm in the early 90s and represents the second generation of this family-owned enterprise. At the age of 21 he graduated magna cum laude from Arizona State University’s prestigious five-year architecture program. When he was 23 years old he was granted his license to practice architecture, the youngest recipient of an architecture license in the state since the implementation of the NCARB exam process. GLA has continued to thrive under Jan’s steady leadership.

Gabor Lorant (FAIA) originally came to the southwest at the invitation of Frank Lloyd Wright after playing a significant role as a Freedom Fighter in his native Hungary. Gabor established the firm in 1963. Gabor has individually been honored with Fellowship in the AIA and the Arizona Architect’s Medal to name but two of the many accolades he has received for his contributions to the architectural profession. With a 50-year history, work has been conducted in 42 states and three countries resulting in built solutions that are timeless in character and functional in nature. The firm has garnered over two dozen design-excellence awards. Today GLA honors its namesake by producing innovative and functional architecture in keeping with the design work completed during Gabor’s lifetime.
